Whitewater Kayaking |
Whitewater Kayaking (and canoeing) offers challenges of various levels classified as CLASS 1 thru CLASS 5. CLASS 6 is considered to have a high potential of death or serious injury so while it is a classification, it should not be considered as anything a reasonable paddler would attempt. Whitewater paddlers tackle small creeks or high volume rivers with a variety of methods from playboating at "park & play" spots - to racing - to creeking which tackles a series of rapids along a stretch of river. Troublesome Creek offers outfitting - some of which is not found at outfitters lacking whitewater experience. We can help with setting up boats as well as accessory gear directed toward whitewater. We recommend any serious whitewater paddler take Swift Water Rescue instruction. While we do not presently teach such, we can put you in touch with qualified instructors. We can recommend the correct equipment for the type of whitewater you paddle. For example you would not want a park & play type kayak if your interest is racing. Also a paddlers size and experience dictates which kayak is suitable. Come in and talk with us for all your whitewater outfitting whether it be a boat, airbags, adhesives, paddles, repair, personal waterwear, or river information. |
